Situation
Our client is the premier global provider of market intelligence, advisory services, and events for the information technology, telecommunications and consumer technology markets.
The position for a China Director of Software and Services had been unfilled for over a year because the candidates that were previously interview by them lacked enough management experience and were not senior enough. Through conducting market research it became apparent that most of the potential candidates had already been approached and therefore a new talent pool was needed. After meeting with the client and the hiring manager we found some in-house candidates who had the experience to take on the role.
Task
The client consulted Geeker with a request to fill the permanent position of China Director of Software and Services. The position was to be filled in Beijing, China. The role was a crucial aspect of the business and needed to be filled as soon as possible.
Action
A detailed brief was collected from the client in regards to the key responsibilities and requirements. This was used as the basis to find someone with both the technical and non-technical skills. Consultants started actively looking for a candidate with all the skills and expertise for the role. Since the role focussed on the Software and Services industry, there were a lot of target companies, potentially there were 100 similar international IT companies and we approached more than 150 candidates and also searched internally for the role.
Result
After reviewing the candidates both internally and externally the most outstanding candidate worked as Head of APJ Server Marketing in a leading global IT company. He had worked there for 7 years and in his time had successfully launched many enterprise products in the APJ region. His experience, skills and in-depth industry knowledge was an ideal match for the role.Our client were delighted with the fast response to gather many suitable candidates for the role and are exceptionally pleased with the final candidate. The original title of the role was as a China Director but the final candidate was given the position of Associate Vice President of Software and Services and he accepted the offer of 1.1 million per annum and the relocation to Beijing.
